Secret Garden wedding at Aster Cafe

While we trend towards color, we were beyond excited about the secret garden vibes Jackie + Colin wanted for their September intimate wedding!

The wedding took place at Aster Cafe in Minneapolis–the pre-ceremony drinks + ceremony happening outdoors under the Shasta Tent, and the intimate dinner inside the cozy River Room. We decked out both spaces with plenty of vining greenery, hanging over the guests in the tent and climbing up the rustic beams during dinner. A pair of asymmetrical freestanding pillars were the backdrop for Jackie + Colin’s ceremony and remained a focal piece outside throughout the night as guests moved between spaces.

We dressed up the long rectangular dinner tables with an assortment of bud vases and pin frog arrangements small and large running the length of each table, and we leaned heavily on candlelight to create the perfect ambiance for the intimate 40 person dinner, utilizing votive, pillar, and taper candles in neutral tones of white, sandstone, and sage green. We also adorned the bar with a cascading textural focal piece that greeted guests as they entered the room and grabbed drinks throughout the night.

To achieve a very natural and organic feel to the florals, we focused on using many different types of green foliage with plenty of textures and a few well-placed white flowers, ensuring nothing was too uniform in order to play off of Mother Nature’s perfectly wild aesthetic. Almost every single element was made entirely from local product (only the vining greenery came from outside the state) which illustrates just how magical September wedding flowers can be.

Jackie + Colin were among the most laid-back couples we’ve flowered for to date, and hosted some of the happiest guests. We enjoyed working with Josey of Sixpence Events and the staff at Aster Cafe were amazing as well. We can’t wait to be back!
